August Meeting

At the August meeting we had a pub style quiz that was based on Falconry and the countryside. This was hotly contested by four teams. Despite some controversy and debate about the number of species of the crow family found in the UK and the fact that the British Falconers club was formed in 1927 not 1922 as I had stated and I did have the answer written down as 1927 so why I said 1922 I don’t know. It turned out to be both a fun and educational evening.

The winning team was the Vestal Virgins on 51 points, consisting of Sue Winn, Paul Gray, Steve and Nicky Forrest who cleverly played their joker in the right round and getting twenty six points in one round.

The rest came in as follows, Hawkeye (Chtis Gray’s team) 33 points, Martini (Alan’s team) 49 points and the large Pricks (John Hall’s team) on 35 points!

Other points Alan Greehalgh who was FIFTY! On that day, had happy birthday sung to him. He was presented with a card and a gift from the club, and, for services to the club (Alan was one of the three founding members and chairman for thirteen years) was made an honoury member.

Neil Forbes will be attending the club at our September meeting to talk about first aid for birds in the field. Neil is considered to be one of the top avian vets in the country and will be well known to many falconers.

Club Meeting dates for 2010

September 21st, October 19th, November 16th, December 21st.

Easy way to remember is it is the third Tuesday of every month at The Royal Swan, Blackwater, Camberley.
