Club news

Club Website

The address for the club website is www.homecountieshawkingclub.co.uk.

We would welcome some articles to put on the site from members, so if you feel that you have something worth while to write about please do so and email any articles to Stuart or Kelly at the site or hand to a committee member.

September Meeting

Neil Forbes, one of the countries top avian vets gave an excellent talk at the September meeting on first aid in the field. The talk was attended by about 38 members.

I think that even the most experienced members of the club gained some useful information and tips from this most informative meeting.

October meeting

At the October meeting we will have an equipment making evening. Learn how to make jesses anklets, leashes, bewitts and how to fit tail bells and telemetry mounts. If you have a bird that needs new furniture please bring it down.

We hope to also show how to crop tube at this meeting.

Club Meeting dates for 2010

October 19th, November 16th, December 21st.

Easy way to remember is it is the third Tuesday of every month at The Royal Swan, Blackwater, Camberley.

The New Season
Male Red-Tailed Hawk The new season is now upon us. Most of our members have now almost got their existing birds or new birds flying free.

At the September meeting Kelly informed me that her new male Red tail had entered on that day, catching its first rabbit. Kelly was understandably ecstatic. Stuart and Kelly’s other male Red tail has also entered since then.

My own two Harris hawks are also out and hunting with two rabbits in the bag. Although the female caught them. The male still has yet to catch but has made several attempts to do so. I will keep you informed. Please let me know, if you have a new bird when it enters.

Steve Forrest and Alan Greenhalgh are attending The BFC meet at Wood Hall Spa in October. We look forward to hearing all about it on their return.
