Club news |
Well the show season has come to an end and the hunting season now begins. Thank you to all members who helped on the club stand during the show season. We attended several shows including the British Falconry Fair, the International Falconry Festival,
This resulted in the club gaining several areas of land to hunt on including 4000 acres in Scotland.

A controversial subject! How does one measure success in falconry?Falconry is the hunting of quarry with birds of prey, so how does one measure success? Is it the head count obtained with a bird during the season? Or is it the out standing hunts with a bird which may or may not result in a kill? Or possibly the taking of a particular species with a bird e.g. Goshawk taking a Hare, or a Harris hawk taking a Goose.
For me head count is a reflection of the time put in and the success of the bird, although high counts can be attained by taking young inexperienced quarry early in the season.
Let me know your thoughts. |

I have agreed to take on the club news letter. It is in its trial format and I am hoping it will evolve over time. I aim to get one out after each club meet. If you have any thoughts or news I could put in the newsletter please come and see me at the club meets. This is your newsletter so I would welcome feedback on what you think, good and bad but preferably constructive so I can improve this.
Thanks Jem |
