Club news

Club Website

With many thanks to Stuart and Kelly (Stuart? hmmmmm!) the club website is now up and running. The address is www.homecountieshawkingclub.co.uk.

The site is still evolving as we discover what works for the club and what doesn’t. Feed back to either Stuart or Kelly or any of the committee would be really helpful.

May Meeting

Martin Hollinshead gave an excellent talk to about 31 members at the May meeting.

I think, judging by the feedback I received, that this was enjoyed by all of the members there.

Martin spoke about Hare hawking, and I would say that club members came away with a certain respect for the strength and ability of this species to survive when hunted by birds of prey.

For those flying Harris hawks, Martin heaped praise upon this bird’s ability in the field.

Club Meeting dates for 2010

June 15th, July 20th, August 17th, September 21st, October19th, November 16th, December 21st.

Easy way to remember is, it is the Third Tuesday of every month.

Some info about Rory Major who will be talking to the club on the 15th June

Rory has been involved with Gundogs all of his adult life as well as regularly ‘picking up’ and ‘beating’ with his dogs on several shoots, he also works his dogs for Falconers and has competed successfully in Field Trials. Most notably, he has owned, trained and made-up the first and only German Wirehaired Pointer Field Trial Champion to date, FTCh Velia Von Andesheim, as well as owning and training the only two G.W.P’s to win awards in the Championships.
